The Center for Data Analytics and Sports Gaming Research (DASGR), in collaboration with the Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management, proudly announces the launch of an innovative Tableau Educators Workshop designed to revolutionize how faculty across all disciplines integrate data analytics and visualization into their curriculum.

This intensive, four-week professional development program empowers educators with industry-standard data visualization skills, preparing them for the Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification and equipping them to teach data-driven decision-making effectively.

The Workshop Experience

This comprehensive training program takes participants through a carefully structured journey from Tableau fundamentals to advanced visualization techniques. Educators will master essential skills, including:

  • Connecting and preparing datasets for visualization
  • Selecting appropriate charts and visual formats
  • Developing interactive dashboards and geographic maps
  • Applying calculations and customization for professional visualizations

The curriculum emphasizes hands-on application and data storytelling, ensuring that participants can immediately implement these tools in their classrooms and research projects.

Why This Matters Now

In an era where data literacy is an essential career skill, this workshop addresses a pressing educational need. Tableau and data visualization competencies now transcend traditional academic boundaries—they are equally valuable in business analytics, STEM research, healthcare, public policy, and social sciences.

By participating, educators gain the tools to prepare students for a labor market where nearly 90% of professional roles require data competency. The workshop directly supports Morgan State University’s mission of equipping students with 21st-century skills through experiential and interdisciplinary learning.
