Muhammad Sani Iliyasu is a Doctoral Candidate in Information Systems and Science at Morgan State University and a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Data Analytics and Sports Gaming Research (DASGR). His research focuses on understanding the behavioral dynamics of sports gambling, with particular interest in how digital advertising and promotional content shape betting attitudes, engagement patterns, and decision-making among online audiences. He applies computational methods — including Large Language Models (LLMs) and multimodal text analysis — to examine how sports betting platforms and advertisers communicate with and influence their users.
At DASGR, Muhammad contributes to research projects that analyze the features and messaging strategies embedded in sports betting advertisements across digital media. His work helps researchers identify how promotional content drives user engagement and potentially reinforces gambling behaviors, supporting broader efforts to understand the psychological and informational landscape of the legal sports betting industry. His academic interests extend to generative AI governance and responsible AI implementation, particularly as these apply to regulating algorithmic content in gambling environments. His work is geared toward producing evidence-based insights that inform policy, consumer protection, and responsible gambling frameworks.
