A Comprehensive Review of Economic and Problem Gambling

This project investigates the socioeconomic impacts of iGaming and online sports betting legalization in U.S. states and international jurisdictions, including Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, and the U.K. The research focuses on:

• Net economic outcomes, including revenue cannibalization and possible reductions in economic output within related sectors.
• Societal costs such as problem gambling, bankruptcies, homelessness, and healthcare burdens
• Demographic analysis of gambling impacts by age, race, and gender

Findings will help lawmakers and regulators weigh economic benefits against public health costs.
